This is a very interesting take on my prompt. John is John because he doesn't know how to be anything else. I do wonder why Carson is so adamant about John returning to/becoming a girl, though. Genes don't make you who you are, and as a geneticist, he should get that. And I feel very sorry for John, here, who is caught between a rock and a hard place.
