The thing about Carson is that he *is* a bit insensitive in canon. Specifically, I'm thinking about Critical Mass, where he moved Charin into the infirmary without Teyla's permission and tried to insist that he was required to treat Charin, despite her wishes. Teyla had to speak firmly to get him to agree to provide only palliative measures. I like the character, but there are times when he gets an attitude of "I know best, so hush." Which is fine, BTW. I prefer characters who have and exhibit flaws -- makes them more interesting.
